2016 QEH Yuletide Gala Auction a success!

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation held its annual QEH Yuletide Gala Auction, hosted by Murphy Hospitality Group at the PEI Brewing Company, raising $230,133 to fund the purchase of a new electroencephalogram (EEG) machine used to analyze brain wave activity in adults and children, and three flexible ureteroscopes to allow less invasive interventions for urology procedures.

“Kathy and I are honoured to co-chair this QEH Foundation signature event for a third year, and want to fully recognize the numerous dedicated volunteers who contribute their time, financial donations, product donations, and talents to create this meaningful evening year after year,” says co-chair Kevin Murphy. “Together we are making a significant difference to the QEH – a place that touches all Islanders.”

“RBC was proud to support this QEH Foundation event as presenting sponsor for a second year,” says Lisette Michaud Carrier, VP commercial financial services, Eastern N.B. and P.E.I. “RBC’s purpose is to help our clients thrive and communities prosper, something we share in common with the QEH Foundation, and there is no better cause than to help patients receive the best possible care with the most up-to-date equipment, right in the heart of the Island community.”

QEH Foundation board chair, Bob Sear, gratefully accepted the donation to the QEH Foundation’s annual Friends for Life Campaign, and expressed his sincere thanks to all involved. “The guests and donors understand what the evening is about,” says Sear referring to the tremendous contributions from spirited bidders. “My sincere thanks goes out to all who helped make this evening such a success, including Kevin and Kathy Murphy and all Murphy Hospitality Group staff; presenting sponsor RBC; live auction sponsor Stewart McKelvey; reception sponsor Atlantic Lotto/Red Shores; wine sponsor Clarke-Smith Foundation; valet parking sponsor Hillside Chevrolet; travel sponsor WestJet; and print sponsor KKP Charlottetown, as well as the many Friends of Gala, businesses and individuals who donated prizes for our live and silent auctions, and other contributors.”

“It is only with their support, the leadership of our volunteers and bidding guests that we can continue to fund much needed equipment for the QEH through this event,” says Sear.

Matt Rainnie and Patrick Ledwell emceed the evening, entertaining the 250 guests in attendance, while Myles Enstrom of Green Gavel Auction led the live auction with great enthusiasm and success.

Both the live and silent auctions offered a collection of unique and one-of-a-kind items exclusive to the Yuletide Gala Auction. A grand total of $230,133 was proudly revealed to an applauding crowd at the close of the evening. Guests enjoyed live entertainment donated by Capital Drive following the auction.

The QEH Foundation gratefully acknowledges the entire community effort required to make this evening a success.
