‘Great day’ success for QEH – June 21, 2019

CHARLOTTETOWN – It was indeed a “great day fore health” at the 16th annual Harry MacLauchlan Memorial Golf Tournament, presented by Fair Isle Ford, held on June 12th at Belvedere Golf Course, in support of priority medical equipment for the QEH.

Thirty-four teams participated and with the continued leadership of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty, over $61,000 was raised.

“We are always thankful to our valued partnership with the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty who ensure this event’s success,” says Ed Lawlor, chair of the QEH Foundation. “Special thanks to our many supporters including presenting sponsor Fair Isle Ford as well as corporate sponsors Island Petroleum/Esso and Scotiabank/ScotiaMcLeod, and lifeline sponsors Johnson Insurance and Canadian Tire Charlottetown.”

Proceeds helped fund two duodenoscopes for the endoscopy suite, which is a provincial service only offered at the QEH. Specialists use the scopes as part of a day-surgery procedure treating conditions such as tumors, gallstones, inflammation and infection.

Rotarians and co-chairs Mike Hennessey and Jamie Currie said they were excited with the results, and grateful for the teams who participate year after year.

“Many players and their teams have returned every year and have been with us since the very beginning,” says Hennessey. “We cherish how everyone recognizes the importance of this tournament for our hospital and the strong connection to the MacLauchlan family. Harry was a great friend and would be proud that we have continued the tradition in his honour.”

The winning team was Kreative Acres, made up of Chris Linzel-Waddell, Lucas Arsenault, Colin Younker and Thane Hansen.

Next year’s event will take place on June 10th, 2020. For more information on the tournament contact Mike Hennessey at or Jamie Currie at
