Mask-Q-rade FAQs

  1. What does this event support?
    All proceeds from this event will support the purchase of priority medical equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), cancer treatment, children’s health, and other priorities at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.


  1. How do I purchase tickets?
    Tickets are available for purchase here or by calling the QEH Foundation office at 902-894-2425.

  2. Who can purchase a ticket?
    In accordance with PEI lottery license regulation, anyone purchasing a ticket must be in PEI at the time of purchase; however, any name/Canadian address can appear on the ticket.

  3. What is included with my ticket?
    Each ticket is a ballot in the elimination draw to win a 2020 Bayliner VR4 Outboard from Quartermaster Marine. The ticket also provides access to bid in our online silent auction. Ticket holders will also be given access to our virtual event broadcast for the live draw on November 21, 2020, from 8:00pm – 9:30pm, hosted by Matt Rainnie. As part of the fun, ticket holders will receive a non-medical face mask. You are not required to wear the face mask during the on-line event.

  4. Is my ticket purchase eligible for a charitable tax receipt?
    No. In accordance with CRA regulations, this ticket is a ballot in the elimination draw and is not eligible for a charitable tax receipt.

  5. Is there a deadline to purchase tickets? 
    A maximum of 500 tickets will be sold and we anticipate they will sell out prior to the event. Purchase your tickets today!

  6. What is a Friend of the Gala?
    We welcome you to become a Friend of the Gala by making a gift toward the purchase of medical equipment being funded through the Mask-Q-rade event. Benefits for each Friend Level are listed here.

Elimination Draw:

  1. Do I have to be watching the broadcast in order to win?
    While we encourage you to watch the broadcast, you do not have to be on-line in order to win. We will contact the winner directly.

  2. What is the elimination draw prize?
    The final name drawn will win a 2020 Bayliner VR4 Outboard. Click here to watch a virtual tour of the boat. Quartermaster Marine will store the boat and have it ready for you to pick up in Spring 2021.  It will be serviced and all set for summer enjoyment, plus the trailer will be inspected and ready to go!
  • Included is a galvanized swing tongue trailer with brakes as well as mooring and bow snap on covers.
  • The VR4 is a design with high gunnels that creates more passenger space, with under-seat storage and safety in mind. It comes with a 115 Hp Mercury Pro SX Outboard engine.
  • With a roomy cockpit, this 18’ Bayliner has an extreme sport tower with an integrated Bimini top to provide protection from the sun and stability for anyone who skis or wakeboards.
  • Equipped with automatic bilge pump, digital depth sounder, and bow speakers.
  • Stainless Steel Package for cup holders, fuel fill, thru hull, horn, vent, bow hatch, latches and rub rail.


  1. How do I access the auction?
    Auctria can be accessed online or via an app, so you will require a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Once you entered a Personal Access Code (emailed to you) and registered your credit card you will be able to bid. Our auction will open on November 14 and will close during our virtual event on November 21.

  2. How will I know what I’m bidding on?
    Detailed descriptions and pictures will be provided with each item on Auctria.

  3. Is the auction only open to ticket holders?
    Yes, only ticket holders will have access to the auction. Access to our exclusive auction is one of the benefits of supporting the QEH through participating in the Mask-Q-rade.

  4. Will the auction only be open during the event?
    The auction will open in advance of the event on November 14. Ticket holders will be notified via email when the auction is open and there will be reminders throughout the virtual event to remind bidders of closing auction times.

  5. How do I pay for items I win?
    If you are the successful bidder, your registered credit card will be charged.

  6. Do I receive a charitable tax receipt if I purchase medical equipment items from the auction?
    Yes. Many priority medical equipment items are up for bid in our auction again this year. If you purchase any of these items you will not only be directly supporting the QEH, you will receive a tax receipt for the full amount of your bid. 

  7. Do I receive a charitable tax receipt if I purchase items from the auction? 
    No. Items purchased for personal use are not eligible for a tax receipt. If you purchase medical equipment through our auction (see Question 6), then your bid is eligible for a charitable tax receipt. 

  8. What is a “Buy-It-Now” item? 
    Buy-It-Now items may be purchased for the indicated price and are not subject to bidding. 

  9. How can I donate a prize for the silent auction?

Mask-Q-rade Virtual Event:

  1. Is this a new event? 
    In an effort to keep our community safe and healthy, we pivoted plans for the annual QEH Foundation Yuletide Gala to bring you an online formatted event with a wonderfully curated auction and a chance to win a boat!

  2. Can I watch the Mask-Q-rade virtual event with others?
    Whether you choose to tune in during a private evening in your living room, or you’re hosting a small gathering of other ticket holders at your home, we appreciate your support and wish you a pleasant and fun evening. Please follow Public Health Guidelines during this time of COVID.

  3. How long will the Mask-Q-rade virtual event be?
    Our broadcast will begin at 8:00pm and will last until approximately 9:30pm. During this time, the auction will close and we will draw a winner for the 2020 Bayliner VR4 Outboard. We will also bring you messages from our sponsors, that are making this event possible.

  4. Do I have to tune in the entire time?
    You are free to tune in whenever you’d like.

  5. How do I access the virtual event?
    A link will be emailed to you prior to the event. It will be streamed live online and you are encouraged to cast to your smart TV.

  6. Can other attendees see me on the screen if I tune in to the event?
    No. Names and videos of attendees will not be visible on the broadcast.
