Matrix Fights Cancer

The Mid-Isle Matrix is the AAA male hockey association for the central part of the Island, which includes young players from Borden, Kensington, Rustico and North River. This spring, the association hopes to raise money for the Cancer Treatment Centre (CTC) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Players on each of the four teams will be wearing pink jerseys for a month starting with the return of their regular season games on February 17th.

To support this initiative, donations can be made to the Cancer Treatment Centre through the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation by using the form below. Funds raised will help purchase medical equipment to support Islanders receiving care at the CTC.

The Matrix Fights Cancer Campaign is deeply personal for many players and their families. This is the first year for this initiative and they plan to continue it each season moving forward. The Association is asking for support to help their cause,

“Over the years many members of our hockey family have been touched by Cancer. The Mid-Isle Matrix Association wants to honor those who are no longer with us and support those living with, going through and moving past cancer. Matrix Fights Cancer is a way to bring together players, parents, coaches and supporters to help people with cancer and their families. For one month over the hockey season all of our Mid-Isle Matrix Teams will be wearing special jerseys at games to show our support.”

The Matrix Association would like to acknowledge the businesses that helped make this initiative happen. The following companies provided financial support to purchase the jerseys and socks for each of the teams.
