Maya Khasanova (baby) Varvara Satanina

For Varvara Satanina, finding out she was pregnant was one of the happiest days of her life!  Throughout the first and second trimesters, she was relieved to know everything was going well.

But things changed for the Russian-born Montague resident when her water broke when she was only twenty-three weeks into the pregnancy.  She was rushed to Halifax for emergency care, and the birth of her daughter Maya Khasanova.

After a two-month stay, she was able to bring her daughter back home to the QEH for continuing care.

“By the time we were transferred to the QEH, we found it was much more comfortable to be back, closer to home, and the nurses were so thoughtful and friendly, and very supportive,” says Varvara.  “Maya received top-quality care, and compassion and support”.

Varvara was able to stay in the “Care by Parent” room, which allowed her to be with Maya, when the baby needed her mother, and anytime Varvara wanted to spend time with her baby!

Varvara says that despite going through a very stressful time, she and her family will never forget the wonderful care Maya received at the QEH.
