The Residents of MacMillan Crescent – Sherwood, PEI

Residents of MacMillan Cres cheque presentationThe residents of MacMillan Crescent in Sherwood have been fundraising for the QEH Foundation for the past 10 years.

MacMillan Crescent resident and former QEH Foundation board member Sibyl Cutcliffe has led the charge for a number of years which includes fundraising events such as yard and bake sales, card parties and canvassing during Telethon and the Annual Friends for Life Campaign. It’s been a win-win experience for all the residents involved, as they have had the opportunity to get to know their neighbors personally, and feel good about collectively supporting the QEH. The group has raised over $30,000 and is the only street on PEI to be on the Foundation’s new donor wall.

MacMillan Crescent resident Nigel Armstrong knew the importance of supporting the QEH, but it became a much more meaningful activity for him after being diagnosed with cancer in 2009. He experienced first-hand the technology and equipment that his fellow neighbors have helped purchase and is grateful for the care he was able to receive here at home on PEI. As a young person with a young family, Nigel is proud of the efforts and dedication of the street where he lives and would like to encourage other streets throughout PEI to get involved in supporting the QEH.
